Because it's raining here in Kingston and I would rather be somewhere else, here are my Top 5 (Places I Want to Visit):

1. Ireland

I have absolutely no Irish in me that I know of, but I am strangely drawn to the Emerald Isle.  I've been dreaming of going there for many years now, and hope it will come true for my 10th anniversary.

2. Italy

I do, however, have a whole lot of Italian in my blood, so it seems only natural to want to go and see where some of my family is from.  Besides that, what's not to love about the idea of Italy? Food, wine, art, lots of gesturing - sounds like the perfect playground for me.

3. South Dakota

This may seem totally out of the blue and for the most part it is.  All I know is that Clay and I watched Deadwood for a while and now I want to go see Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, the Badlands and all the like.  There's no doubt I would have been a gunslinger if I was around during the days of the wild west...or a saloon girl...or an old school marm....

4. France

France makes the list not because of the food, or the art, or even the Eiffel Tower.  Nope.  All those things make France interesting, but they're not the reason I would like to visit this European destination.  I want to go to France and watch the Tour de France.  I started watching with Clay because he likes it and now I'm hooked.  Little skinny men on bikes - count me in.

5. Southern Mexico

I didn't even really know I wanted visit Mexico until I started thinking about this post.  There's something about the food and the history that feels very inviting to me.  Maybe I'm just missing mexican food since it doesn't exist in this town, but Mexico is definitely on my list.

Alright, I'll bite. Maybe you only need one comment to get other people to comment too! My top 5 places to visit (in no particular order, and non-overlapping):

1. India - I've heard so many stories over the years, I've got to see the place myself
2. Galapagos Islands - as a biologist, how could I not want to see the spark that lit the fuse of modern biology?
3. South Africa - everyone I know who has been there has nothing but good things to say about it.
4. Nepal - my best friend in grad school is from Nepal, and I would love to visit there with him.
5. Belgium - I'll flaunt my bicycling knowledge and say that I'd love to see one of the Classics over the cobblestones. Plus, Bruges is supposed to be a f*@$ing fairly tale town.

My Top 5 Places (that I have visited):
1. Ireland - SOOOOO beautiful...every vista is a postcard!
2. Edinburgh, Scotland - Only because I had a great tour guide who made the city come alive for me!
3. Brown County, Indiana - Because trees, trees, and more trees makes me happy.
4. Garden of the Gods, Colorado - Because there's nothing like red rocks as far as the eye can see!
5. Kabuto Japanese Restaurant, Indianapolis, IN - Because good food is a destination in and of itself!

Top 5 Places (I've never been to):
1. Glacier National Park - Looks AMAZINGLY beautiful!
2. Macchu Picchu, Peru - South America is so intriguing to me, and the Inca are where's it's at (in my opinion).
3. Paris, France - Because I'm a total nut for art museums, and I want to lose myself at the Louvre.
4.San Diego, California - Normally, I'm not a beach person, but there's something captivating about the Pacific for me!
5. Nepal - Because I love the mountains in a soul-stirring, inspiring way and what's more inspiring than the tallest mountain range in Asia!
